DANIEL CRAIG turned on the charm at the world premiere of his new film, The Golden Compass, last night.
Co-stars Nicole Kidman and youngster Dakota Blue-Richards, 13, were also at the red-carpet opening of the movie, adapted from the bestselling Philip Pullman book.
Chester-born Craig plays adventurer Lord Asriel, while Kidman is the villain Mrs Coulter in the film, made by New Line Cinema, the studio behind the Lord of the Rings.
Bond star Craig, who arrived with his girlfriend, said of the premiere: "It's always good and exciting when the crowd is as big as this.
"The Philip Pullman books are beautifully written. He is one of the best writers in this part of the century and most of the last. They are incredible books and I couldn't wait to get involved."
Asked what it was like to have Pullman on set, he said: "It was great but I preferred to go out with him for a glass of red wine."
