Line-up of acts all set for number 1

Musical acts are gearing up for Arena showpiece

THE biggest line-up of Liverpool acts ever seen together on one stage will perform at the Number 1 Project concert, one of the early highlights of Capital of Culture year.

Atomic Kitten, OMD, The Icicle Works, The Farm, Ray Quinn, China Crisis and Frankie Goes to Hollywood are all confirmed for the unique event.

Organisers have already sold more than 5,000 tickets for the fundraiser – despite music fans not knowing who was on the bill – at the Echo Arena.

Also signed up for the January 19 gig are Dr and the Medics, The Towers of London, Shack, Thomas Lang, The Christians, The Scaffold, Eton Road, Anthony Hannah, Mike Pender of the Searchers, The Real People, Sonia, the Swinging Blue Jeans, Paul Holden and The Talk Abouts, The Weirdos and Thea Gilmore.

The Hollyoaks cast and Sense of Sound choir make up the line-up confirmed so far.

The Farm frontman Peter Hooton said: “It’s a great honour to be performing. It’s going to be a fantastic experience and we’re all really looking forward to doing our version of Needles and Pins.”

“The concert will really show Liverpool’s rich musical heritage as there’s such a variety of artists and songs. There will be something for everyone to get enjoyment out of the evening.”

Ray Quinn said: “It’s going to be one of the greatest musical nights of 2008.’’

Tickets for the January 19 concert cost £22.50 and £32.50 and are available from the following outlets:
