Missing woman’s body found

A BODY discovered in a St Helens park has been identified as that of missing 52-year-old Eileen Carney.

Ms Carney’s body was found at 3.30pm on Sunday in Sutton Park, and the area was immediately sealed off.

Merseyside Police launched an investigation into the unexplained death before attempting to identify the body.

Ms Carney was first reported missing from her St Helens home by her family on Friday, November 30 and police made numerous appeals to the public in an attempt to trace her.

However, last night detectives confirmed that they were not treating the death as suspicious and were not looking for anyone.

Her car, a red Ford Maverick, registration MJ03 UNW, was found parked on Bridge Street, St Helens.

Police want anyone who may have seen it being parked there between 1am and 1.30pm that Friday to come forward.
