Liverpool FC raids: Players fear they are being followed

Steve Gerrard

A FORMBY councillor has called for more police officers for the wealthy town to protect the millionaires who he believes are “sitting ducks” for thieves.

Alf Doran, Conservative councillor for the Harrington ward, where Steven Gerrard’s mansion is located, said the town was being targeted by a “criminal element” who had been attracted to the area by the number of multi-million-pound properties and high-value cars.

A former police inspector, he said Formby needed more police resources to deter thieves who had con-sistently targeted the area – home to million-aire celebrities such as Kenny Dalglish, John Parrott, Mark Lawrenson, and formerly the likes of Wayne Rooney, Alan Shearer, Neil Ruddock and Duncan Ferguson.

He said he was appall-ed at the “traumatic ordeal” Steven Gerrard’s wife Alex Curran had experienced at the hands of four masked raiders.

“It was more shocking that Alex Curran was at home with her children.

“We need more resources to prevent any more acts like this and to reassure our residents.”
