Mourning for well-loved Merseyside clerics

LIVERPOOL’S Anglican Diocese is mourning the deaths of two of its clerics.

Bishop Jim Roxburgh and the Rev Canon Chris Woods both died on Monday.

Bishop Jim, who was ordained 63 years ago, had been an Assistant Bishop in Liverpool since 1991.

Before returning to the Diocese, he ministered in a number of parishes includ- ing Bootle St Matthew. He moved to Southport after retiring.

Rev Canon Woods died suddenly. He had been priest in charge of St Helens Parish Church since 2005 and Area Dean of St Helens for six years up until 2006. He was previous- ly Vicar, then Team Vicar of Holy Trinity, Parr, and was an Honorary Canon of Liverpool Cathedral.
