Key city centre developer goes into administration

A BUILDING firm working on some of Liverpool’s most prestigious development projects has gone into administration, leaving workers with the prospect of no pay this Christmas.

On Friday morning, Staff at Preston-based Livesey Group were told  the bad news – which comes just three months after the firm won a £5.6m contract for a Liverpool University building at Liverpool Science Park.

The Livesey family-operated firm employs 20 staff directly. But that number doesn’t include around 100 sub- contractors who are also facing the prospect of no pay this Christmas.

Livesey is operating on four Liverpool sites: Pall Mall, Herculaneum Dock, Duke Street and Brownlow Hill.

The Pall Mall project has been described by Liverpool Vision as “a key element in our strategy for Liverpool's commercial district”. The former Herculaneum Dock is the site of a controversial 12-storey residential development.

AIt is understood meeting with contractors will take place on Monday and there is no suggestion that any development will be affected. Nobody from Livesey company was available for comment.
