A WIRRAL cancer centre has been given tens of thousands of pounds after being chosen by a major money broker as one of its charities.
Wirral Holistic Cancer Care was guaranteed a slice of profits by brokerage company ICAP raised on its busiest day of the month – a total of £80,000.
WHCC patron Esther McVey, who has worked for the last three years to get this donation for the Wirral-based centre, said: “I’m delighted to have secured WHCC such a substantial donation, so enabling the charity to build a much-needed quiet room for patients and family.
“The charity does so much for so many. Set up initially to help cancer patients on Wirral by Dorothy Crowther, it now helps people right across the world. The charity is unique and run by wonderful caring people.”
Ms McVey said that, even when people have been told chemother- apy will no longer work, the holistic advice and therapies the WHCC offers have helped add years to their lives.
With a range of therapies on offer, patients at WHCC become an integral part of the treatment process by choosing the treatment they feel would best help them to deal with the nature of their condition and lifestyle.
WHCC was one of 18 charities chosen this year by ICAP. The charity fund-raising day was the idea of ICAP founder and CEO Michael Spencer, a business colleague and friend of Esther McVey.
