Schoolgirl’s card gets MP’s vote
A CHRISTMAS card designed and drawn by a Wirral schoolgirl will soon be on the Prime Minister’s mantelpiece.
Seven-year-old Lottie Sutcliffe, from Egremont Primary School, in Wallasey, won a competition to design the official Christmas card of Wallasey MP Angela Eagle.
She met Ms Eagle at a special prize giving ceremony and was able to see her design which has now been reproduced as the MP’s official card.
As well as being sent out to her Parliamentarian colleagues – including Prime Minister Gordon Brown – the card will be sent to over 40,000 homes across Wallasey.
Hundreds of Wirral school children took part in the competition, but Lottie’s festive drawing of a reindeer triumphed after scrutiny from Ms Eagle. She said: “It was very hard to choose a winner because the standard of all of the entries was very high.
“I think there are a number of potential artists coming out of the schools in Wallasey.
“I would like to thank all the children who sent in their entries; looking at them all really got me into the Christmas spirit.”
