HIS father had flown in with fellow Liverpool FC owner George Gillett to discuss their future relationship with club manager Rafa Benitez.

But for Alex Hicks, son of Tom Hicks, a different relationship was on his mind as he entered Anfield on Saturday, 24 hours before Liverpool played Manchester United.

According to the club, Alex proposed to girlfriend Portia Tuma in the centre circle during a private stadium tour.

Yesterday, he joined dad Tom in the directors’ box for Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.

Both Alex and Portia sported Liverpool scarves, with Portia also flashing what appeared to be a very expensive engagement ring.
