Families invited to enjoy colourful Islamic festival

MEMBERS of the Liverpool Arabic Centre will be on hand for a free family event to celebrate the colourful festival of Eid on Saturday.

The event takes place at Merseyside Maritime Museum and will feature traditional music from the River Nile band and a range of family activities.

Eid al-Adha is an Islamic period of thanksgiving which also marks the end of the annual pilgrimage to Mecca.

Families and friends of all ages celebrate by dressing in their best clothes, exchanging presents and eating traditional food.

The event at the Maritime Museum in the Albert Dock takes place from 12noon to 5pm.
