Teenager’s conviction upheld

A TEENAGE "scavenger" who left another youth permanently brain damaged in a fight over scrap metal failed to get his conviction overturned on appeal.

The 17-year-old from Widnes – named only as "G" was convicted of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Today lawyers for "G" argued unsuccessfully the teenager had been convicted on the ground of joint enterprise and it was impossible to tell which blow caused the injuries.
