LIVERPOOL John Lennon Airport, which is unaffected by the industrial action, is gearing up for its busiest ever Christmas and New Year, with a 3% increase in passengers expected to travel compared with the same period last year.
The traditional Christmas getaway is expected to start this weekend, when around 162,000 passengers are estimated to pass through the airport over the Christmas and New Year period.
Airport director Andy Gower said: “The Christmas getaway from JLA gets busier each year and as we celebrate the start of the Capital of Culture year, we also look forward to welcoming thousands of visitors to Liverpool over the coming year.”
