ONE of the UK’s biggest travel firms has gone into administration.
Travelscope Holidays Limited ceased trading yesterday, with no further bookings being taken and all forthcoming trips cancelled.
Travelscope supplied some of the packages sold through the Daily Post’s reader holidays. Last night, the Daily Post and Echo was still trying to speak to the administrators who have taken over the day-to-day running of what remains of the company.
But holiday watchdogs yesterday assured anyone who has booked holidays with Travelscope that there was no reason to panic.
The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) pledged no customers would be left out of pocket.
A spokesman said people would get a 100% refund on money paid to the firm.
Arrangements were currently being made for Travelscope customers already on holiday to finish their break and return home.
Claim forms will sent out by ABTA to Travelscope customers automatically, from Monday morning.
An ABTA spokesman said: “Travelscope are fully financially protected by us.
“No customers will be left out-of-pocket as a result of this, but there may be some inconvenience for customers already away on holiday. We will try and process the refund claims as quickly as possible.”
Customers with bookings involving flights should contact the Civil Aviation Authority on 0207 453 6350.
