Man, 80, dies from injuries in car crash

AN 80-YEAR-OLD man has died following a road accid- ent near Risley prison in the early hours of Christmas Day.

Police were called to the A574 Warrington Road, out-side Risley prison, at about 12.45am on Tuesday after a silver Nissan Primera and a black Ford Focus collided.

The driver of the Nissan, an 80-year-old man, and his passenger, a 49-year-old woman, were taken to Warrington District General Hospital.

Last night, police said the 80-year-old man had died from his injuries.

Police made a fresh appeal for witnesses to call Sergeant Mike Jones, on 01925 613813.
