Escaped Liverpool prisoner is back behind bars

AN ESCAPED prisoner who was serving time for the killing of a man in Liverpool was captured on Christmas Eve after three months on the run, police have said.

Raymond Alvin Kennedy, 33, who was in the 16th year of an indeterminate sentence for killing a vagrant in Liverpool city centre, fled from Sudbury open prison in Derbyshire last September. ennedy was just 15 when he kicked and beat Ronald Davies to death in 1991.

He claimed the 53-year-old had tried to sexually assault him.

Kennedy beat him with a stick, snapped the piece of wood and used the sharp end to stab his victim.

Police focused their manhunt on Merseyside and Lancashire, where Kennedy grew up, and warned the public not to approach him.

A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police said: “Kennedy was arrested on Christmas Eve at an address in Lower House Lane, Fazakerley, and he is currently still in police custody.”

In 2001, Kennedy escaped from HMP Grendon in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, with two other men.
