DIVERSIONS will be in place on Liverpool Road, Huyton, for 10 weeks while engineers repair flood damage.
The A57 in Huyton was deluged when a 44- inch water main burst last month.
Water company United Utilities have repaired the pipe, but Knowsley Council say they will need 10 weeks to repair the partly collapsed road.
Liverpool Road is closed between Cuper Crescent and Bluebell Lane and Primrose Drive.
Fifty houses were damaged in the incident on December 29.
Fifteen families were evacuated from their homes which are still inhabitable. It is not known when they will be able to return home.
Their houses are being inspected by insurers and the council say dehumidifiers, heaters and driers have been moved in.
A Knowsley Council spokesperson said: “We urge residents to check our website and bulletins.”
“It’s quite a significant road closure.”
Inbound and out- bound 10A and 10B bus services are re-routed.
The diversion takes in Princess Drive, Deysbrook Lane, Mab Lane, Waterpark Drive, Stockbridge Lane and Knowsley Lane.
Temporary traffic lights will be at the junction of Stockbridge Lane and Knowsley Lane while the diver- sion is in place. A community meeting is being held at the River Alt Resource Centre at 6pm on Monday January 7 to discuss the recovery plan
