A WOMAN arrested over the suspected murder of her two-year-old son has had her bail extended.
Nichola Bowman, 22, and her boyfriend, named locally only as Wayne, 24, were arrested in November over the death of Miss Bowman’s son Joshua Jones.
They were questioned for two days before being released on bail.
The pair were due to present themselves at Runcorn police station on Tuesday but officers have given themselves more time for their investigations.
Both Miss Bowman and her boyfriend, who she is thought to have met over the internet six months before the death of her son, have had their bail extended until March.
Police were called to Miss Bowman’s home in Tilbury Place, Murdishaw, on Tuesday, November 6. Paramedics had been alerted after the boy, at home with Miss Bowman’s boyfriend, stopped breathing.
Two crews worked in vain to save him.
Neighbours described Joshua as “a lovely little boy with chestnut red hair”.
It is believed a post-mortem failed to pinpoint the cause of death and more tests have been done.
