Boy, aged 15, arrested after man stabbed in street disturbance

Stabbing in Goodison Road

TWO people including a 15-year-old boy have been arrested after a stabbing attack left a man fighting for his life.

The teenager and a 24-year-old man, both from Kirkdale, were being questioned by police last night after being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The victim was attacked on Goodison Road, near Everton Football Club’s ground, just after 4.30am on Saturday.

The 24-year-old, who has not yet been named, suffered multiple knife wounds to his chest and stomach, and is in a critical condition in hospital.

It is believed the victim had been involved in a row between up to seven men in the street.

Police carried out house-to-house inquiries and conducted a forensic search of the scene, which was sealed off until the cordons were lifted before thousands of football supporters began arriving for Everton’s Premier League home match with Manchester City yesterday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0151 777 4066.
