Post Office moves to new site

CHARING Cross Post Office, in Birkenhead, will be on the move next month.

The branch will relocate to the WHSmith store at 37 Borough Pavement in the Grange Shopping Centre from its current site at 29 Oxton Road.

WHSmith will manage the branch on behalf of Post Office Ltd following the successful trial of six post offices in WHSmith stores across the country in 2006.

Ian Rowley, WHSmith Regional Manager, said: “At a time when so many branches face an uncertain future, this is good news for Post Office customers in Birkenhead.”

The new branch, which will be renamed Birkenhead Post Office, will have eight serving positions, which will be a mixture of open plan and traditional style positions.

There will also be a low level writing desk and an induction hearing loop.
