Rolls-Royce jobs campaign petition goes to No 10

WORKERS from a Liverpool Rolls-Royce factory threatened with closure presented an 18,000-name petition to 10 Downing Street as part of a campaign to save the plant yesterday.

The Unite union said the site at Bootle, which makes turbines for the oil and gas industries, should remain open rather than see production shifted to the US.

Staff from the plant were also due to make representations to MPs, Joe Benton, Lindsay Hoyle, David Crausby, Rosie Cooper, Peter Kilfoyle and George Howarth in Westminster in a bid to retain production on Merseyside and its 212 highly skilled engineering jobs.
