Glastonbury to go on tour in Liverpool – with no mud

A LITTLE bit of Glastonbury will be coming to Liverpool as part of the Capital of Culture celebrations, it has been announced.

For the first time ever, organisers of the Left Field area of the famous festival are moving out of Somerset for a special one-off gig.

The Left Field is an integral part of the Glastonbury Festival, organised by trade unionists and committed to combining music with political campaigning.

Director Geoff Martin said: “This is a real first, and a real coup for Liverpool as we take a little bit of Glastonbury on the road.

“We just thought the city of culture would be a great place to bring a little bit of the spirit and the ethos of the Left Field and we are delighted to have the opportunity.

“We hope to have some really special guests on the night. It will be promoting up-and-coming bands in Liverpool at the moment with one or two old hands coming along and taking part.”

Left Field at Glastonbury takes place at the Carling Academy on May 14.
