A BODY found in woodland near Widnes is believed to be that of a 79-year-old pensioner who went missing last July, Cheshire Police have said.
Raymond Williams was reported missing from Whiston Hospital on July 12, 2007, and CCTV images of him hours after his disappearance were also released.
Officers said they were growing more concerned for the safety of the elderly man with each day.
He was reported missing from Whiston Hospital in the afternoon and police had an unconfirmed sighting of him at around 4.30pm.
They also believe he was seen by passing motorists walking along Wilmere Lane, Widnes, and appealed for anyone who may have spotted the pensioner to come forward.
At the time Detective Inspector John Roberts explained that Mr Williams suffered from depression and “may sometimes appear to be in a confused state”.
