Nazis’ victims remembered

A PERFORMING arts programme has paid tribute to the forgotten disabled victims of the Holocaust.

The event was organised in support of National Holocaust Memorial Day by the North West Disability Arts Forum (NWDAF) who offered a wide range of drama workshops and acting master classes – led by writer and actor, Nabil Shaban.

Running in partnership with Liverpool Culture Company, the workshops took place yesterday afternoon at Liverpool Hope University, Deanery of Arts and Humanities.

Liverpool’s Lord Mayor, Cllr Paul Clark, said; “It is fantastic that the National Holocaust Memorial Day has become such a big part of the Capital of Culture.

“It’s very important that we remember, and do not forget, what happened during the Holocaust, and give this event the prominence it deserves.”

For the “day of drama”, Nabil Shaban explored text from his play, First To Go, which discusses the treatment of disabled people by the Nazis during the Holocaust.

Next week, Liverpool plays host to National Holocaust Memorial Day, at the Philharmonic Hall, on January 27.
