Police close drug house

THE seventh “crack house” closure in Wirral has been enforced by Merseyside police as it continues its “total war on drugs”.

The terraced house in Birkenhead is the subject of a court order made following a joint operation between police and Wirral’s Anti-Social Behaviour Team.

Under the order, police have immediate power to close the property in St Anne Street and remove people, even those with rights of ownership, for three months.

Neighbourhood Inspector Paul Harrison said: “The closure order is the result of a long operation and an example of partnership between the police and Wirral's Anti-Social Behaviour Team.

“We have acted on the information supplied to us by concerned community members.

“My thanks go out to those people who have come forward with vital information and to Martin Ford, who is the dedicated police officer for the area. He has worked tirelessly to obtain the evidence required.

“I urge anyone who is suffering at the hands of their neighbours who are involved in drug-related activities to contact us in confidence.

“We will act on all information received – but if you don’t tell us, we can’t help.”
