Wirral man found injured in freight train

A WIRRAL man is being treated in hospital after he was found injured inside a freight train wagon in the Peak District.

British Transport Police believe he fell off a bridge and landed in a coal wagon, breaking his arm and foot.

He was discovered when the train stopped at Earlsidings station in Hope in Derbyshire at about 5.00am on Saturday.

It is not clear where the man, who lives in Birkenhead, was when he fell onto the train.

A spokesman for the British Transport Police said: "Three officers are waiting at the hospital to speak to the man to ascertain how he received his injuries and whether any further enquiries and investigations need to be made."
