Merseyside man accused of killing unborn child

A Merseyside man accused of killing an unborn child appeared for the first time at Liverpool Crown Court today.

David King is alleged to have kicked his partner, Hayley Cain, in the stomach while she was 30 weeks pregnant with their child on Christmas Eve.

30-year-old King, of Thomas Drive, Broad Green, is charged with child destruction and assaulting Hayley Cain causing actual bodily harm.

King, who appeared via video link equipment from Walton prison, was further remanded in custody until April 19 when he is expected to enter his pleas. A trial date has been provisionally fixed to begin on May 19.
