14 years in jail for paedophile from Ellesmere Port

A 61-YEAR-OLD man has been jailed for 14 years for a catalogue of offences against children.

Barry Procter, of Sutton Way, Ellesmere Port, appeared before Chester Crown Court yesterday to be sentenced having been found guilty of 17 counts of indecency against boys and girls aged between 10 and 15.

The court heard that Procter, formerly of Birkenhead, committed a string of offences against children throughout a 23-year period stretching back to 1976.

The court was also told that many of those offences, which included rape, had been committed when Procter had been in a position of trust.

DC Brendan Crilley, of the Western Area Public Protection Unit, said: “This has been a particularly traumatic case for those involved.”
