A LIVERPOOL University-trained locum doctor had sex with a female patient on a consulting room couch, the General Medical Council heard.
Dr Michael Moore, 62, thought the 34-year-old woman “was coming on strong” after she asked him to examine her chest and pulled up her top to reveal she was not wearing a bra, the GMC hearing in Manchester heard.
The retired doctor was working as a locum at the Lower Broughton Medical Centre, in Salford, and saw the woman for a hip problem in March, 2006.
GMC counsel Bernadette Baxter said Dr Moore’s conversation with the woman, known as Patient A, became “flirtatious and sexually charged” when he indicated he would need to undertake a physical examination.
She said the doctor was surprised when Patient A confided that she had dreamed about him after seeing him earlier that month. Ms Baxter said: “He said he was flattered that this lady, who was considerably younger than him, had been dreaming of him.”
She continued: “He said he tried to make light of it and was making a joke.”
Ms Baxter, reading from Dr Moore’s statement, said: “I’ve got to say it did excite me and I thought ‘Blimey, she’s a flirty piece, this one’.”
Fiona Neale, legal counsel for Dr Moore, said her client admitted the misconduct allegations being considered by the GMC Fitness to Practise Panel.
The panel determined that Dr Moore’s fitness to practise is impaired by reason of his misconduct. They will make an announcement on whether he faces sanctions today.
Dr Moore studied at the University of Liverpool and practised as a GP in the Swinton area of Salford for 30 years. He is married and has moved abroad.
