Planners to visit site

A DECISION on whether to allow the Gregson Memorial Institute to be demolished for student flats was deferred yesterday.

Councillors at Liverpool council’s planning committee yesterday decided to visit the site before they made a decision on the fate of the building in Garmoyle Road, Wavertree.

Planners have recommended demolition goes ahead, but it has drawn considerable opposition locally.

Due to failed attempts to refurbish the building, the owners have decided to redevelop it, said the council.
