Pupils help to celebrate start of Chinese Year of the Rat

CHINESE New Year celebrations have kicked off across the region to welcome in 2008 – The Year of the Rat.

Queens School in Chester, one of only a handful of UK schools teaching Mandarin as a language option, helped usher in the New Year with year seven pupils dressing in traditional Chinese costume and practising their language skills.

Liverpool’s Chinese community will take centre stage on Sunday from 12.30pm in Great George Square.
