A TOPPING-OUT ceremony for “another fantastic piece in Liverpool’s jigsaw of regeneration” was held yesterday.
Members for the One Park West project team and council leader Warren Bradley met at the top of the 15-storey residential tower which forms part of Grosvenor’s Liverpool One development.
A time capsule was concreted into the highest point of the building at the brow of the 15-storey tower on the Strand.
The time capsule which contained a copy of yesterday’s Liverpool Daily Post, a CD with the first sketches of the building, a key ring of the Superlambanna, a Capital of Culture magazine, and a DVD of One Park West – was embedded into the building by Cllr Bradley.
The cement used for the occasion was partially mixed with Cains beer, extra virgin olive oil, and water from the Mersey to promote fertility, liberty, and wisdom.
A traditional Yew Tree branch was also added to the concrete to ward off evil spirits.
Council leader Bradley said the pace of development on the 42-acre site had been phenomenal and the project would be held up as an example of delivery.
More than half the 326 apartments in the development have been sold.
