LIVERPOOL indie trio The Wombats are to play a homecoming gig at The Picket next week.
Billed as The Wombats’ Warehouse Party, the concert on Wednesday will be the band’s first in the city since the Capital of Culture launches at St George’s hall and the Echo Arena.
Tickets for the show are available only from the band’s fan mailing list.
Singer Matthew “Murph” Murphy said: “We’re really excited about playing this gig.
“It’s our smallest show in Liverpool for a long time, and we’ve been away for ages, so it’ll be good to be back.”
The Picket’s director, Philip Hayes, said: “The Wombats are one of the hottest bands around, and we’re really grateful they’re coming to do this gig at The Picket.
“We have so many young people who use this space and they’re mad about The Wombats.
“We’ve been getting calls round the clock about it, but we’ve been having to send everyone back to the fan club.
