Asda plan to give jobs boost

AROUND 80 new supermarket jobs could be created in Wirral if a supermarket gets planning permission to enlarge its store.

The Bormborough-based Asda store has submitted a planning application to Wirral Council for what local MP Ben Chapman has described as “exciting new plans”.

The proposals would extend and refurbish the store and the supermarket giant hopes to create an internal mezzanine level to the store.

This would open up the shop giving it more space and increasing the range of products.

The plans, if approved, will provide up to 80 extra full and part-time jobs for the area.

Wirral South MP Ben Chapman said: “New investment in both the Croft Retail Park and Wirral International Business Park, seen most recently by companies such as JJB, Carilllion and now possibly ASDA, is a real vote of confidence in Wirral’s economy.

“The extra jobs that ASDA’s expansion will create is also very pleasing.”
