Heroin dealer sent to jail

A ST HELENS drug dealer, who was caught out in a police operation, was yesterday jailed for 2½ years.

Liverpool Crown Court heard that police targeted street-level drug dealers in Clinkham Wood and surrounding areas of St Helens.

A woman constable acting under cover bought heroin five times from Anthony Hampson in May and June last year.

Deborah Birrell, prosecuting, said the officer waited with other drug users at street locations and Hampson, 23, turned up with drugs to sell.

Hampson, of Esthwaite Avenue, St Helens, pleaded guilty to five offences of supplying heroin.
