AN APPEAL will be made tonight to viewers of BBC1’s Crimewatch programme to help find the killer of Warrington teenager Shafilea Ahmed.
A reconstruction has been filmed of the last hours in the life of the 17-year-old, who disappeared in September 2003.
Her decomposed body was found in Sedgwick, Cumbria, in February 2004.
Nobody has ever been charged in connection with her death. Last month a coroner recorded a verdict of “unlawful killing” at an inquest.
Filming of the Crimewatch reconstruction took place in Warrington and Sedgwick.
The officer leading the murder investigation, Supt Geraint Jones, will join Kirsty Young in the Crimewatch studio to explain how the public can help.
Viewers will also hear Shafilea’s school friends describe their loss.
Detectives from the murder incident room in Cheshire are travelling to London to staff the Crimewatch phones and take calls from the public offering information.
The programme is broadcast on BBC1 this evening at 9pm, with an update at 10.35pm.
