Jailed teen tells judge he hoped he died from Aids

A MERSEYSIDE youth jailed for burglaries shouted to the judge that he hoped he died of Aids.

Byron Abiru received a 27-month sentence after admitting breaking into a house in Wallasey while the occupants were asleep and twice burgling a house in Liverpool.

He was caught for the Liverpool offences because the house in Arundel Avenue, Wavertree, had been set up by police, and Abiru was filmed on secret cameras, said Philip Hall, prosecuting.

He and others broke into the house twice on September 9 last year and stole items including a computer and plasma television.

On September 13 a young woman was sleeping on the couch in her home in Deveraux Drive, Wallasey, when she realised an intruder was in the room.

Liverpool Crown Court heard that Abiru had committed that offence while on bail two days after being arrested for a street fight.

Abiru, 19, of Hartington Road, Toxteth, admitted three burglaries, threatening behaviour and had three other offences taken into consideration.

Arthur Gibson, defending, said that Abiru had gone off the rails after family difficulties.
