COUNCIL tax payers in Liverpool will today learn the likely level of increase in their bills for the coming financial year as the local authority publishes its budget.
The council has reduced the budgetary deficit from £62m to £37.5m, which includes £20m for the Capital of Culture celebrations, through a number of efficienciess.
According to the council's Medium Term Financial Plan a rise of 3.7% has been built into forecasts.
If the council agrees to increase its share by 3.7%, band A householders will pay an additional £29 bringing their bills to £825 and those in band D will pay £1,238 a rise of £45.
Details of how the authority intends to narrow the budget deficit will be released today at the council's Resources and Corporate Services select committee.
Earlier council leader Warren Bradley warned that tough decisions would have to be made.
