AN OPEN invitation has been extended to Tom Hicks to meet with fans at the Anfield pub where his son was met with a hostile reception last weekend.
Tom Hicks Jnr had to be hustled out by his minders after the mood turned nasty during an unannounced visit to the Sandon pub on Saturday evening.
Mr Hicks later released a statement that he wanted “to see the birthplace of the club” and “have a direct talk with some of the supporters.”
Now Gemma Hindley, managing director of the Sandon, has offered to host an organised meeting between Mr Hicks and supporters’ groups. She said: “There seems to be a lot of ‘talk’ about what happened at The Sandon on Saturday night after the game, and I am sure both the Hicks family and the fans want to resolve the issues surrounding the incident before the rumours continue to escalate.
“The meeting could be organised in a closed, safe environment with a number of invited supporters to discuss the current situation at Liverpool FC. It will also allow the real supporters the opportunity to talk to Mr Hicks without being stereotypically labelled as obtrusive football louts as the national media like to portray them.”
No-one from the Hicks family was available for comment last night.
