Plea for help to find gunman

POLICE are appealing for help in tracking a gunman who targeted a Melling man this week.

James Richardson, 27, was shot in the back at 8.30pm on Monday in Larkspur Court, Melling.

He was walking to his car when at least one gunman got out of a silver car and fired.

Mr Richardson staggered to the Horse and Jockey pub before being taken to hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening.

At around 9pm that night police were called to a burnt out car in Standard Road, Croxteth.

The silver Renault Clio, registration PL57 AWO, was stolen from the Widnes area on the Friday before the shooting. A gun was found on the back seat, and police are investigating whether the two incidents are linked.
