ANDREW was a cannabis user for 20 years and he is hoping to get a place on a fixers course – following years of volunteer work while on probation.

Andrew said: “I used to be a scally and I never thought anyone would give me a chance.

“I’ve done lots of volunteering with outward bound activities, but I really want to try and get on a fixers course but funding is tight, places are limited.

“The partnership has helped me apply for jobs and set me up with an email account but it’s like a million people are applying for the same jobs.

“To get a job you need so many years of experience and to get that experience you need a job.

“People who have been in trouble or have been unemployed don’t trust anyone and struggle to communicate. I hope I can help people who are in the same situation I was, because my life now is a million miles away from how it used to be.”
