Culture channel due to go on air

AN INTERACTIVE Sky channel will launch its first daily schedule later this week.

Open Media will allow Merseysiders to make their own TV contribution to the city’s Capital Of Culture year and will feature three daily programmes on Channel 167.

The channel was due to launch over the weekend but technical problems mean it will begin later in the week.

It is billed as an opportunity for everyone to keep up to date with what is happening within the European Capital of Culture year and also to make a contribution of their own by submitting work to be seen on screen locally, nationally and across Europe.

Open Media will broadcast six hours every day featuring culture from Liverpool and the region.

There will be three fixed-time slots and three floating hours across each day to try and provide as many opportunities for people to view.

The first slot at 12.30pm-1.30pm is called Community Culture and is an opportunity for all Merseyside communities, schools, colleges, universities and groups to see themselves on screen.

At 8pm, the Cultural Calendar is a one-hour slot airing a diary of events to keep people up to date with what is happening in Liverpool this year.
