Police probe boy's knife threats in Wirral school

ALLEGATIONS that a 10-year-old boy threatened two other pupils with a knife as they walked to school in Wirral are being probed by police.

It is understood that the year six pupil of Barnston Primary near Heswall has since been excluded from the school for a day following the incident.

Police were alerted following the allegations about the incident which is thought to have taken place off school premises.

It is said to have occurred as the children made their way to the south Wirral school on Monday morning.

No arrests have been made and it is understood a governor of the school reported the allegations to Merseyside Police.

Last night a Wirral Council spokesperson said: “Wirral Council’s children and young people’s department and Merseyside Police are currently looking into the allegations.

“It would not be appropriate to comment further until those enquiries are completed.” The school has also said it is not appropriate to comment.

A police spokesman confirmed they were investigating following a complaint.

He said they were trying to verify precisely what had happened because there were “a number of different witness accounts”.
