ACTRESS Cathy Tyson was in the city this morning to launch the Blackburne House and Friends Liverpool Women’s Festival ‘08, to showcase of some of the events that will be taking place this year.
The Festival is a unique series of activities to run throughout the 2008 European Capital of Culture Celebrations, to recognise and celebrate the work, lives and achievements of women across Merseyside and beyond.
Blackburne House, on Hope Street, is also marking its 25th anniversary of providing training and opportunities for women. It is one of the country’s leading social enterprises, with Blackburne House Education, part of the Group of businesses, being ranked in the top 10% of further, adult and community education providers in the country.
The launch featured sketches from Liverpool comedienne Amanda Meeghan and a dance showcase from the winners of the Let’s Dance competition.
