AN AWARD-winning wildlife photographer is to speak to the Friends of Martin Mere group.
Gordon Yates, who has been making wildlife films since 1973 and has been a member of the RSPB for 50 years, will talk about the bird habitats of Scotland.
One of his favourite twitching spots is the Isle of Islay, off the west coast of Scotland and visited the Seychelles, Iceland, Greenland, Alaska and Spitzbergen, Norway.
On one trip to Spitzber-gen in 1997 he had a “life and death encounter” with a polar bear.
Tickets can be bought on the door at the Wild-fowl and Wetlands Trust site at Martin Mere, near Burscough, Ormskirk at 8pm on March 14.
