Do you want to sign up for AFC Liverpool?

NEW football team AFC Liverpool last night called for players to sign up.

Since launching last month, organisers of the non-league team have been inundated with offers of support and have raised hundreds of pounds.

The club has also had applications from potential players in the Midlands, Scotland and even as far away as Scandinavia.

AFC is not a response to the current ownership saga currently engulfing Liverpool FC, say organisers. Instead, it has been established for passionate Liverpool fans who have been priced out of Anfield by rising Premiership prices.

The club hopes to be playing in the North West Counties League from next season.

Club spokesman Alun Parry said: “We are now in a position to formally request applications to be an AFC Liverpool player.

“Ideally from people who have played at that level before, or think they are of that standard.

“Once we have appointed a manager, we will be holding trials over the May Day bank holiday.”

The club has an online CV submission system at www.afcliverpool.org.uk
