Cannabis growers to face court

TWO men are due to appear in court today in Wirral after hundreds of cannabis plants were seized in raids by police.

Acting on tip-offs from the local community the seizures took place on Tuesday, March 11, in Thingwall and Oxton.

Al Qiang Wang, 20, from Howards Road in Thingwall was arrested and has been charged with production of cannabis following the raid at the same address.

During the raid over 300 cannabis plants and sophisticated cannabis growing equipment was seized.

During the second raid, 32-year-old Letian Dong from Brattan Road, Oxton, was arrested and has also been charged with production of cannabis.

Over 1800 cannabis plant seedlings and over 400 cannabis plants and growing equipment were seized from the property.

Acting Neighbourhood Inspector Dave Westby described the seizures as significant.

He said: “Information is vital in our war on drugs. I want to thank the community for their support.”
