Hotel in line for two awards

MALMAISON Liverpool has been shortlisted in two categories at The Northern Hospitality Awards 2008.

In the category for Best Hotel, it is the only Liverpool establishment to make it into the shortlist and will be competing against a list of Manchester hotels.

The hotel hopes a place on Best Wine Offering shortlist illustrates the staff’s aim to raise the standard in the region.

The hotel’s General Manager, Mark James said: “The team at Malmaison Liverpool are delighted to be nominated for two such prestigious awards.

“We are especially proud to represent Liverpool in the Best Hotel category.

“This is a very exciting time for hospitality in Liverpool and a fitting achievement that the city has a strong showing in this year’s awards.”

The hotel’s head sommelier, Pavlos Shakas, said: “To have received this recognition is just wonderful. We are working very hard to raise the standard of wine service in the north.

“Currently, my wine list has 200 bins and that is growing all the time; it is my passion to provide a no-nonsense journey through the wine world and educate people at the same time.”
