Protesters target city M&S again
MARKS & SPENCER came under renewed attack yesterday for “exploiting its workforce”.
The union Unite claims to have evidence of widespread discrimination in the treatment of workers at Marks & Spencer despite the retailer’s credentials as an ethical trader.
Unite says there is a permanent two-tier workforce among many suppliers, creating conflict between migrant and indigenous workers.
But Marks & Spencer said: “We are at a loss as to understand why they continue to single us out. We have a leading position in labour standards and work very hard to maintain these high standards.”
