School goes fancy dress to raise cash for Sport Relief

THREE amigos, a sumo wrestler and ballerinas were among the staff and pupils at a Liverpool school which raised more than £450 for Sport Relief.

Pupils of Shorefields High School ran a mile in fancy dress and some even completed the two-lap circuit three-legged.

About 100 pupils ran alongside headteacher Mr John Charnock and his two deputies, who were dressed as the three amigos, and donated money to run or walk the mile.

The fastest boy completed the mile in four minutes and 32 seconds and the fastest girl finished in five minutes.

The rest of the school held a non-uniform day.

Gina Lunt, a PE teacher at the school, said: “I thought it was a really good way to get the pupils involved.

“Even the least sporty students took part, but it was really fun and we raised a good amount of money.”

Pupils, parents, grandparents and toddlers in Cheshire are planning to walk “The Green Mile” today.

The sponsored mile will raise funds for Comic Relief’s Sport Relief.
