GOODISON Park was home to 350 clever students from across Merseyside and the North-West yesterday.
The high achieving state school pupils spent the day learning about Cambridge University in the hope they might aim to apply for a undergraduate place.
Former King David High School pupil Melissa Conboy was among 20 undergraduates hoping to convince the Year 11 pupils to aim for the prestigious university.
Melissa, who is studying history at Sidney Sussex College, said: “No-one should feel too daunted to apply to Cambridge and although academic life is challenging, the environment is friendly, supportive and lively.”
